Last Monday, amidst the ongoing confrontation in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, China has increased the prices of raw materials useful in pharmaceutical manufacturing by 15 to 20 percent. This has made it difficult for domestic drug makers. China did the same at the time of the Doklam standoff. ng The small drug manufacturers of Indore, who have taken contracts for supply in government hospitals and health departments are facing a lot of problems. They will have to supply medicines at the old rates only.

JP Moolchandani, secretary of Indore Basic Drug Association, says that due to the stalemate in Galwan, Chinese traders have increased the price of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) raw materials. This increase 15 to 20 percent. This has led to a crisis in front of drug makers. Now they have to supply at a minimum profit only. China did this even during the Doklam standoff.

Gaurav Jhanwar, director of pharmaceutical company Sipco Pharma, says that paracetamol and other raw materials came from China in the last days of January. After this, the corona began to take effect. Gradually the lockdown started. Paracetamol which comes for 250 rupees, we are now buying it for 400 rupees. Now that the effect of Corona has diminished, we thought that the supply will start from China, then its price will decrease but this is disappointing.
