According to media reports, in an interview to the People's Daily, the official newspaper of the ruling Communist Party in China, Wang Yi has told about China's diplomatic achievements in 2019. In the same sequence, Wang Yi said without directly mentioning the Pulwama attack that when tensions between India and Pakistan were at a peak, China had sent its Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyu to Pakistan and persuaded to exercise restraint.

In this, Wang referred to the second informal talks in Chennai between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Chinphing, saying, 'We have improved and developed relations overall with our neighbors. President Chinfing and Prime Minister Modi held the second successful summit in Chennai and paved the way for sustainable development of China-India relations. Earlier on December 13, in a symposium on 'China's diplomacy in 2019', Wang said that the Chennai Summit had set the tone for the sustainable and strong development of India-China relations.
