The National Meteorological Center of China issued a yellow alert for rainstorms across the nation on Sunday, urging people to take precautions.

Storms are predicted in portions of Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Beijing, and Inner Mongolia from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, with up to 150 mm of rain in certain regions of Sichuan's southwestern province.

Some of these areas may get over 60 mm of hourly precipitation, along with thunderstorms and gales. Local governments should take proper precautions to prepare for rainstorms, such as imposing traffic limits and evacuating people from dangerous locations, according to the center. China has a four-tier colour-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
