New Delhi: Kalvari class submarines are being built under Project-75 of the Indian Navy. The sixth Scorpene submarine 'Waghshir', built under the Project-75 Scorpion program, has taken its first dip in the sea. The sea trials of the submarine 'Waghshir' have started from May 18. It is expected that this submarine will be inducted into the Indian Navy fleet in early 2024. The submarine was launched in April 2022 from the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).

Let us know that this trial of Waghshir submarine is very important, because so far 5 submarines of Kalvari class have been included in the Indian Navy. Through these submarines, it is helping to monitor China's activities in the Indian Ocean. At the same time, now the sixth Scorpene submarine 'Waghshir' is likely to be commissioned by next year. In such a situation, it will now be even easier to thwart every move of China in the Indian Ocean. China is anyway engaged in making inroads in the Indian Ocean these days.

In the Kalvari class, diesel-electric powered indigenous submarines are being built for the Indian Navy. Under Project-75, six conventional diesel-electric attack submarines of the Indian Navy are being built. The submarines being built under Project-75 include Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP), Special Operations Force (SOF), Anti-Ship Warfare (AShW). They are extremely powerful and strategically important due to their anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW) and land-attack capabilities.
