Chinese Defense Minister seeks talks with Rajnath Singh over border dispute

Moscow / Beijing: Amid tensions on the Indo-China border, China's Defense Minister Wei Fanghe has recently urged India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to hold talks. They have asked for time to meet him. Both the leaders have been in Moscow for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting at this time. According to the news of an English newspaper, the Chinese Defense Minister has offered to meet on Friday.

This newspaper has quoted sources as saying, "On Thursday night, the Indian Defense Ministry has approved this meeting because India hopes that the dialogue can normalize the tense situation on the Line of Actual Control".  The Indian and Chinese embassies present in Moscow have also confirmed that the two countries are in mutual contact for a formal meeting of their defence ministers on Friday. On behalf of China, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has been requested to meet, at a time when Indian and Chinese soldiers are engaged in a military deadlock along the Line of Actual Control in East-Ladakh.

In the recent past, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had also said on a question related to China, "Tensions between the two countries can be resolved only by negotiation and they have full faith in this matter". Jaishankar had talked about this by attending the meeting of foreign ministers of G20 countries on Thursday. He is going to attend a meeting of BRICS on Friday.
