NEW DELHI: On the issue of Chinese transgressions, Congress MP Manish Tewari on Wednesday gave an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha
"A thorough explanation of the critical situation along the Arunachal Pradesh border with China in the Tawang area. Since the physical battle at Rinchen La in eastern Ladakh in August 2020, this is the first encounter between the two forces. The notice from Tewari says, the Defence Minister made a statement, but there are important inquiries that must be made: Why are these conflicts taking place, first in Galwan and now in the Yangtse? What desire does China have? Does the government know about the bad intentions of China? As a result of these aggressions, have we lost any territory to the Chinese? If so, how much and how does the administration intend to reclaim it? Trade between the two countries is at an all-time high. He stated: Imports from China increased from $27.3 billion to $52.4 billion between 2020 and the present.
It's ominous that the Chinese are seeking to invade Indian territory. The Chinese appear to be focusing on Arunachal and the 2,500 km Eastern Sector of the LAC from Eastern Ladakh. According to reports, China has erected a sizable infrastructure and is bolstering its military presence along the LAC. He said that the Line of Actual Control is home to at least three more PLA brigades (LAC). Concerns regarding significant military deployment gaps in a few Arunachal Pradesh border regions have also been made public.
These clashes are in addition to what has been taking place in Eastern Ladakh where, in spite of multiple rounds of discusion, 16 in total, China has vehemently refused to vacate areas it reportedly occupied after the major clash on May 5, 2020.
The notice says that the crises in areas such as Depsang and Demchok remain unsettled. Locals that had so far travelled to the Charding La-Nilung Nalla Junction have been denied access by the Chinese. Graziers have also been blocked from accessing the area.
China is said to have constructed significant military infrastructure all along the Line of Actual Control in the interim. China's refusal to maintain the status quo ante in Ladakh places India at a severe disadvantage. This subject relates to India's independence, sovereignty, and role in the world as a sovereign and independent country.
"On this important matter, this House has only spent five minutes. I reqeust the administration to treat this issue seriously and hold a thorough debate in Parliament about the border situation with China. "I hereby seek permission to raise this matter," Tewari's notice said.
