New Delhi: The Union Government introduced the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 in the lower house of Parliament on Monday, which was passed at 12 pm after a debate of about 8 hours. The government did not face any difficulty in passing this bill, but a long debate took place on it. Now this bill will be sent to the Upper House. The bill will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

On the Citizenship Amendment Bill, PM Narendra Modi has praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely. PM Modi wrote on his Twitter handle that, "Delighted that the Lok Sabha has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 after a rich and extensive debate. I thank the various MPs and parties that supported the Bill. This Bill is in line with India’s centuries-old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values.''

He also gave elaborate answers to the various points raised by respective MPs during the discussion in the Lok Sabha." Now this bill will be put in Rajya Sabha, only after passing the bill, it will be able to take the form of law.
