Guntur: A violent clash erupted between workers of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday night, resulting in injuries to at least seven individuals. The confrontation took place in Shankaranagaram village of Ananta Sagaram block in Nellore, following recent political developments that saw the TDP emerge victorious in the state, displacing the ruling YSRCP.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, police officials swiftly arrived at the scene. The injured have been admitted to Atmakuru government hospital in Nellore, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Of the seven individuals injured, four were identified as TDP workers, while the remaining three belonged to the YSRCP, according to Inspector Surya Prakash Reddy. He confirmed that all injured individuals are receiving medical attention at Atmakuru government hospital. Inspector Reddy informed the media, "A clash broke out between YSRCP and TDP cadres, resulting in around seven people sustaining injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at Atmakuru government hospital."

Meanwhile, authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the underlying cause of the violence. The clash comes amidst recent elections in Andhra Pradesh, where both assembly and Lok Sabha polls were conducted simultaneously. In the elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's TDP and actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan's JanaSena Party. The alliance, known as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), secured a resounding victory, winning 164 out of the 175 seats in the Andhra Pradesh assembly. Of these, TDP emerged as the dominant force with 135 seats, while its allies JSP and BJP secured 21 and 8 seats respectively.

N Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the victorious coalition, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday and is scheduled to assume office today.
