Jaipur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has blamed the earlier Vasundhara Raje government for the lapses in the probe into the Mob Lynching case of Pahlu Khan, saying his government has set up an SIT to re-examine the case. Gehlot said the earlier BJP government had changed four investigating officers in the Aspect Khan case.
Gehlot said, "In the Pehlu Khan case, the previous govt intentionally shielded the accused. Now this heinous crime will be investigated separately. A monitoring cell will be created to probe this crime." He further added that "Pehlu Khan case was discussed, the negligence by the earlier government cannot be imagined, that is why accused were given the benefit of doubt by the court and were acquitted."
Gehlot said the news of Khan's mob lynching came on April 1, 2017, while the FIR was recorded 16 hours later and the body was medically examined four days later. There was no readiness to arrest the accused, so we decided to re-examine it.
