Chandigarh: Taking a historic decision, the ruling AAP in Punjab has implemented reservation in the appointment of law officers. With this, Punjab has become the first state to implement reservation in the Advocate General (AG) office. Here 58 posts have been reserved for the SC community. This news has been given by CM Bhagwant Mann. He said that we are walking on the path shown by Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. He said that the recruitment would be done with complete transparency and without recommendation.

He tweeted and wrote, 'Today I am sharing another good news with you. We have released 58 additional posts for the SC community in the AG office of Punjab. Recruitment will be done with complete transparency and without recommendation. Our government is working to provide convenience and respect to the last person standing in the queue.'

Apart from Punjab, Jharkhand has also taken the initiative to provide reservation to Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). Here, CM Hemant Soren gave his permission on Saturday on the proposal to constitute a sub-committee to suggest the appropriate percentage of ST, SC, and OBC reservation in the state. The Jharkhand government spokesperson said that the present government is contemplating increasing the reservation limit in the state, for which it has been decided to constitute this sub-committee. He informed that this high-level sub-committee will send its recommendation to the state government after considering every point in connection with increasing the reservation limit for ST, SC and OBC in Jharkhand.
