Bengaluru: According to the Karnataka government, 91 persons from the state are trapped in Ukraine, all of them are MBBS students.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai discussed the safety and evacuation of students from the war-torn country with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.

According to the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), all 91 stranded persons reported are students (pursuing MBBS) in Ukraine, as per district-by-district information obtained by its control room until 6 a.m. today.

The data COLLECTED at the 24-hour control room was shared with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, in order to make all necessary arrangements for the safe evacuation of stranded Karnataka students, according to the statement.

Furthermore, MEA officers in Ukraine's border countries are in strategic locations for safe evacuation via alternative routes, according to the KSDMA release, and "we request that you remain calm and face the situation with fortitude, and rest assured that the solution for safe evacuation is being worked out on a mission mode."
