New Delhi: Delhi's Deputy CM Manish Sisodia's troubles seem to be increasing. In fact, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed a defamation case against Sisodia. Earlier, CM Sarma's wife had also filed a defamation case of Rs 100 crore against Sisodia. Let us know that Sisodia had accused CM Sarma over the contract of Covid Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
It may be recalled that Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had levelled allegations of corruption in the contracts of PPE kits. He said Sarma had granted contracts to a company linked to his wife Riniki Bhuiyan Sarma and paid it much more than the price. Sisodia had alleged, "Himanta Biswa Sarma gave the contract to his wife's company. He gave Rs 990 per piece for PPE kits. Whereas, on the same day others from another company bought PPE kits at a price of Rs 600 per piece. It's a big crime.'' At the same time, Sisodia had claimed that he had documents with him to prove it.
However, the Sarma couple has denied the allegations. CM Sarma challenged Sisodia, saying, "I will meet you in Guwahati soon as you will face criminal defamation. Congress, Left parties, Trinamool Congress, Asom Jati Parishad, Rajjor Dal and Aanchalik Gana Morcha have also demanded a CBI probe into the corruption case imposed by Sisodia.''
