Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today hoisted the national flag at Pragathi Bhavan on the eve of 74th Independence day. TRS Parliamentary Party leader Dr. K Keshav Rao, Government ‘s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, and others were also there. Chief Minister also felicitated renowned poet (padya kavi) Tirunagari Ramanujam who was selected for the Dasarathi Krishnamacharya award for 2020.

The Chief Minister felicitated him with a shawl, Rs 1, 01,116 cash award and with a memento. 75-year-old Tirunagari has been active in the literary field for the last 50 years. The Chief Minister described Tirunagari as a literary legend who has made Telangana proud. “We believe that Tirunagari will continue the legacy of Dasarathi."

He said that the contribution of Tirunagari such as Balaveera Satakam, Akshra Dhara and Tirungareeyam have found a permanent place in reader’s hearts.”Tirunagari has knowledge about Sanskrit and traditions and is aware of the modern trends in literature. I wish and hope that he will remain in Telugu literature as an icon and also nurture it." In addition to government officials, secretary culture Srinivas Raju, director Mamidi Harikrishna, CM-OSD Desapathi Srinivas, and T Srinivas, son of Tirunagari were also present. The awardee also rendered a poem that he penned on this special occasion.
