New Delhi:  A new tussle may start again between the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of the country's capital Delhi VK Saxena and CM Arvind Kejriwal. Actually, LG has asked the Chief Secretary to submit a report in 15 days after taking cognizance of media reports related to the alleged gross irregularities in the renovation of Kejriwal's residence. After which it is believed that Kejriwal can once again open a front against the LG and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders can target the LG.

According to the report, in a statement issued by the LG office, it has been said that in view of the sensitivity of the matter, taking cognizance of the media reports related to the alleged gross irregularities in the renovation of CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence, the LG has sent all the records related to the matter to the Chief Secretary has been directed to be secured immediately and taken into protective custody. Along with this, it is directed to submit a factual report on the matter within 15 days after scrutiny of records. Let us tell you that the BJP is claiming that about Rs 45 crore has been spent on the renovation of CM Kejriwal's official bungalow located in the Civil Lines area of Delhi. It has curtains, carpets, foreign marble and TVs worth crores of rupees. The BJP had demanded Kejriwal's resignation on the grounds of morality.

Countering the BJP's allegations, veteran AAP leader Raghav Chadha had said that the CM House was built 75-80 years ago in 1942. The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government had recommended its renovation after an audit. At the same time, contrary to the claim of the AAP leader, a senior PWD official had said that it was not a renovation, but a new structure has been constructed in place of the old one. His camp office is also present there. About 44 crore rupees have been spent in this, the point to be noted here is that the old structure has been replaced with the new one.

What is the whole matter?

Documents provided by sources show that against the sanctioned amount of Rs 43.70 crore, a total of Rs 44.78 crore was spent on "additional construction or renovation" of Kejriwal's official bungalow at 6-Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines. Documents show that the amount was spent in five installments between September 9, 2020 and June 2022. Actually, to show the expenditure of more than 10 crores, a tender has to be issued, so the Delhi government took out an amount of less than 10 crores in 5 installments and got the CM's residence renovated without taking out the tender. In fact, according to the rule, if an amount of more than Rs 10 crore is required for government work, the files related to it go to senior officials. After which the work is done by taking out the tender, who bids the lowest, He gets the tender. In view of this, less than Rs 10 crore was allocated 5 times to beautify CM Kejriwal's house. Due to which there was no need to send the file to the officials. In such a situation, there is scope for corruption in this matter as well.
