On Monday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an appeal to the people to preserve rivers and ponds of India. The Chief Minister spoke about this after inaugurating Water Parliament on the banks of Kolans River.
According to ANI, in his statement, he said that the earth is in danger and the environment is worsening and rivers are drying. He also showed his concern over the water level which is continuously going down. Rivers are the foundation of human life as civilizations developed on the banks of rivers, he further includes.
Chouhan also said that this danger looms over our heads because we mindlessly exploited the environment and cut trees. As a result of which water has gone down thousands of feet. He made an appeal to the society, social organisations, non-governmental organisations, and even media persons to conserve rivers and ponds. He showed his concern towards the problems that will occur in future due to no water.
As per the sources, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also declared that tree plantation drive will again be launched from July 15. He also declared that the government would spend Rs 500 crore to dig new ponds and Rs. 500 crore to expand the existing ponds.
