Mumbai: Corona vaccination will be introduced for children between the ages of 15 to 18 from January 3. Healthcare and frontline workers will also be given a pre-caution dose of the vaccine. This was announced by PM Narendra Modi on Saturday night. Following the Prime Minister's announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also tried to take credit for the demand for booster dose.

CM Uddhav Thackeray has welcomed PM Narendra Modi's announcement to provide booster doses to doctors and front liners. The CM said that there was a discussion in the state cabinet recently in this regard and that was our demand. In addition, vaccination of children between the ages of 15 and 18 will definitely help prevent further spread of infection and senior citizens with symptomatic diseases will also benefit from booster doses, CM Thackeray said.

On the other hand, a similar claim has been made by Aditya Thackeray, Tourism Minister, Government of Maharashtra. I am happy that these most necessary requests made on 7th December have been accepted, Aditya, son of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, wrote in a tweet. In fact, the Shiv Sena leader had written a letter advising the country's health minister Mansukh Mandaviya that booster doses of healthcare and frontline workers and vaccination for 15-year-olds should be introduced.
