Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has said on Friday that Ganesh mandals should not put Ganesh idol more than four feet high in pandals during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Thackeray had earlier appealed to the Ganesh mandals organizing events related to Ganesh Festival to organize the festival in a simple manner in view of the Coronavirus epidemic this year.
It is noteworthy that Ganesh Mahotsav is to begin in the state from 22 August. In Mumbai, there is a special practice to install tall statues of Ganapati. The state's CM Thackeray said that in Mumbai and Pune people come in large numbers to see big and tall Ganesha idols and this crowd should be avoided in the epidemic. He said that a large number of volunteers are also required for high statues. Due to this, it is believed that this year Ganeshotsav will not be crowded like normal days.
CM Uddhav Thackeray said that the Dahi-Handi (Janmashtami) festival to be held in August has also been canceled and Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnayak, who organized it extensively, donated one crore rupees to the Corona Relief Fund.
