Kochi: The Congress party has intensified its scrutiny of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) leadership in Kerala and the Industries Minister following the initiation of a probe by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs into an alleged violation by an IT company owned by Chief Minister Vijayan's daughter, Veena. The investigation stems from complaints related to financial transactions between Veena's IT firm and a private mineral company. This move has stirred political controversy in Kerala, with Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan revealing the CPI(M) state secretariat's earlier defense of Veena through a press statement when concerns were first raised about her IT company. Kuzhalnadan is now seeking clarity from the CPI(M) state secretariat on its current stance in the context of the ongoing investigation. He also raised questions about the response of Public Works Department Minister P A Mohammed Riyas, who is Veena's husband, in light of the Centre's probe. The controversy centers around financial dealings involving a private minerals company in Kochi, Veena's IT firm, and the state-run Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Limited (KSIDCL).

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has initiated an investigation into the alleged financial impropriety, and a joint director from the Office of the Director General of Corporate Affairs is reportedly conducting the probe. Despite attempts to contact Joint Director Md Shakeel, there has been no response to messages and calls. The investigation revolves around complaints related to the financial transactions between Veena's IT firm and a private minerals company. The Congress party is pressing for a thorough explanation from the CPI(M) leadership and the Industries Minister in the wake of this development.

The financial transactions in question involve a private minerals company based in Kochi and Chief Minister Vijayan's daughter, Veena, along with her IT firm. The controversy has escalated with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs ordering the investigation based on the complaints received. The investigation is expected to shed light on the nature of these transactions and whether there were any violations, further intensifying the political dynamics in Kerala.
