Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided to give a big relief to the farmers affected by drought. CM Yogi has issued orders to survey the drought situation in the state. 75 teams will work for this in 75 districts. All district magistrates will have to submit a report in a week. The DM will be accountable if there is negligence and delay.
At the same time, the recovery of tubewell bills will also be postponed and tubewell connections will not be cut. Lagan will remain suspended in the affected districts. CM Yogi has instructed to provide pulses, oilseeds and vegetable seeds to the farmers. The irrigation department has been asked to ensure the availability of water in canals for irrigation and the power department has been asked to increase the power supply in the rural area so that the affected farmers could get relief.
UP has received 40 per cent less rainfall than normal so far this monsoon. By now, there should have been 634 mm of rainfall, but the rainfall has so far been only 347.4 mm. Among them, the districts of western UP are craving the most for rain. Baghpat and Ghaziabad have 78 per cent, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Rampur, Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Jaunpur, and Gautam Budh Nagar are the districts that have received 70 per cent less than normal rainfall.
