New Delhi: According to Indraprastha Gas Limited, a gas distribution company in major cities of the country, prices of CNG and PNG have gone up due to 62 per cent costlier natural gas prices. In fact, there has been the biggest increase in CNG prices since 2012. The price of CNG in Delhi increased by Rs 2.28 per kg while in Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida by Rs 2.55 per kg since last Saturday. At the same time, the price of PNG reaching people's homes through pipes has been increased by Rs 2.10 per cubic metre.

Let us also tell all of you that the Government fixes the prices of natural gas every six months. While prices have gone up this time, the price of domestic natural gas was earlier kept at $1.79 per mmBtu till September 1. The full form of CNG is Compressed Natural Gas. On the other hand, the full form of PNG is Pipe Natural Gas. This is the gas that is compressed and filled in the cylinder of the vehicles. That is why it is called compressed natural gas. When this gas reaches your home through a pipe, it becomes PNG i.e. Pipe Natural Gas. In fact, this gas is lighter than the air, and it is considered safer than fuel. CNG spreads less pollution in the form of CO2, CO, NOx than petrol.
