There is a provision of cash awards by the Sports Ministry to the Indian players who won medals in international competitions as soon as they arrive, but their coaches who played a key role in making these players medal winners are still missing prize money. The trainers of the Jakarta Asian Games and Buenos Aires Youth Olympic medalists have not yet been given their cash award by the ministry.

According to a report, apart from these events, the cash awards of the trainers of World, Asian and Commonwealth Championship medal winners held in many sports in the last few years are far from them. In Jakarta, India won 69 medals including 15 gold and 13 medals including 3 gold in the Youth Olympics. The ministry took all these medal winners, but the number of their trainers could not be reached till date. Among the medal winners whose coaches have not received cash award are Hima Das, Duti Chand, Tejinder Pal Singh Toor, Arpinder Singh, Jinson Johnson, Manjit Singh, Mirabai Chanu, Archer Abhishek Verma.

There is a provision in the policy to give cash award to the coach: In the cash award policy of the ministry, there is a system of giving cash award to the coach of medal winners. Asian and Commonwealth Games medalists get 30 (gold), 20 (silver), 10 (bronze) lakhs. The coach gets 50% of the medal winner's cash award. Of this, 30–30% is for coaches who develop a player, while 40% are scheduled for coaching in the last two years (180 days) staying in the national camp.
