The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana has recommended sixteen names for promotion as judges in the High Courts of Bombay, Gujarat, Odisha and Punjab and Haryana. In its meeting held on Wednesday, the collegium approved the proposal of 16 names for promotion as judges of these four high courts. It has six judicial officers and 10 advocates.
According to statements uploaded on the Supreme Court website on Thursday, the collegium approved the proposal for the promotion of 4 judicial officers AL Pansare, SC More, US Joshi Phalke and BP Deshpande as judges of the Bombay High Court. Similarly, the collegium has recommended the appointment of advocates Aditya Kumar Mohapatra and Mrigank Shekhar Sahu and judicial officers Radha Krishna Patnaik and Shashikant Mishra as judges of the Odisha High Court.
The collegium has recommended the elevation of 7 advocates M. Manish Bhat, Sameer J Dave, Hemant M Prachhak, Sandeep N Bhat, Anirudh Pradyuman Mayi, Neeral Rashmikant Mehta and Nisha Mahendrabhai Thakur as judges for the Gujarat High Court. "The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 29 September 2021 has approved the proposal for elevation of Advocate Sandeep Mudgil as Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court," a statement said.
