Delhi imposes several restrictions to curb pollution, know which activities have been banned

New Delhi: As pollution worsens the situation, the Commission for Air Quality Monitoring (CAQM) has issued orders to close all schools, colleges and educational institutions in Delhi-NCR till further orders. The orders were issued after CAQM held meetings with Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan on Tuesday over pollution conditions. Governments have been asked to submit a compliance report on November 22.

- 50 per cent staff work from home

By November 21, 50 per cent of Delhi-NCR staff have been instructed to work in work from home mode. Work from home mode will not be applicable in government but also in private offices.

- Ban on entry of trucks too

Entry of all trucks in the capital has been banned till November 21 to check vehicular pollution. It provides concession only to trucks carrying essential commodities.

- Construction activity also banned

All construction activities have also been banned till November 21. However, construction activity related to railway service, metro service, airport and inter-state bus terminal, national security and defence will continue.

- 6 thermal power plants also closed

Out of 11 thermal power plants within a radius of 300 km in Delhi, only 5 have been ordered to remain operational. All other power plants will remain closed till November 30.
