Patna: In its ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror network established by the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged two more accused in the CPI Maoist terror financing network case related to the revival of Maoist activities in the Magadh region of Bihar.

The NIA filed a second supplementary chargesheet before the special NIA court in Ranchi, naming the accused as Vijay Arya alias Dilip and Anand Paswan alias Anandi Paswan, both residents of Bihar. The charges include section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The case focuses on the terror financing network of the proscribed CPI Maoist, operated by cadres and Over Ground Workers (OWG) in the Magadh region of Bihar. Previous chargesheets included Tarun Kumar, Pradyuman Sharma, and Abhinav Kumar alias Gaurav, who were arrested in connection with the case.

The accused were involved in collecting funds for arms procurement, ammunition, and recruitment of new cadres, with Vijay Arya acting as a bridge between OWG workers and other stakeholders of the banned Maoist outfit in Jharkhand and Bihar. The investigation revealed Arya's role in motivating ex-cadres to expand the Maoist group's influence in the Magadh region.

The prime accused, Pradyuman Sharma and Tarun Kumar, were arrested in August 2021. The NIA has been conducting raids on hideouts of suspects and wanted individuals related to Left Wing Extremism (LWE), recently targeting locations linked to the Peoples Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).

The raids were part of an operation related to PLFI's extortion and levy case, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of weapons, digital devices, and cash.
