New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi, who went on a tour of France, was awarded the country's highest honor 'The Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor'. French President Emmanuel Macron gave him this honor. PM Modi is the first Prime Minister of India, who has received this honor. This honor is given in civil or military service. There is also a provision to confer this honor on a foreign dignitary for social or economic support of France. Along with this, PM Modi was also the chief guest on the Bastille Day of France.

However, as lies are often spread against PM Modi, something similar happened with this honor as well. While receiving the honour, PM Modi called it an honor for 140 crore people of India, but instead of being proud of this honour, some people spreading propaganda in social media started saying that getting this honor is not a big deal. For this they started arguing that this honor has been given to 10 lakh people. Along with this, it is also being claimed that even actor Shah Rukh Khan and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor have got this honour, now PM has got it, so what is special in it. Congress national media panelist Surendra Rajput made the claim while using derogatory words for BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya.

Apart from him, Vijay Shankar, a retired IPS officer of UP cadre, has claimed that Shah Rukh Khan, Shashi Tharoor, Manish Arora, Ruchir Gupta, Kamal Haasan, Amartya Sen and Zubin Mehta have also been given this award. How could the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which leaves no chance to attack PM Modi, lag behind in spreading this lie? AAP spokesperson Sarvesh Mishra repeated the story of Shahrukh Khan and Shashi Tharoor getting the award, calling Amit Malviya a 'dealer of lies'. However, no one tried to know the truth of this whole matter, just forwarded what came on social media.
Have Shahrukh and Shashi Tharoor also got PM Modi's honour?
For this, let us first explain about India's Padma Award. Just as, in the Padma Awards, Padma Shri comes from the lower order, then Padma Bhushan and then Padma Vibhushan, the highest in order, all three are called Padma Awards. Similarly, France has 5 categories of 'The National Order of the Legion of Honour'. Which is divided into 5 parts – Knight, Officer, Commander, Grand Officer and Grand Cross.
While the first three parts i.e. Knight, Officer, Commander, are counted as ranks, from then on both the parts Grand Officer and Grand Cross are considered as titles. The honor given to PM Modi is the 'Grand Cross' of 'The Legion of Honor', that is, it is the highest honor of France. As for Shah Rukh Khan and Shashi Tharoor, Shah Rukh was awarded in July 2014 in the 'Knight' category, which is the lowest of the 5 parts of 'The Legion of Honour'. In French it is also known as 'Chevalier'. At the same time, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was also given the same honor in August 2022.

However, without knowing this fact, it is being claimed by Congress and AAP leaders that PM Narendra Modi has also got the same honor which was given to Shahrukh and Shashi Tharoor. Let us tell that, PM Modi is the first Indian PM to get this honor, but not the first Indian person. Prior to him this honor has been given to only 2 Indians, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala (grandfather of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh) in 1930 and Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala in 1926.
