Actor Farhan Akhtar has been overshadowed by protesting against the citizenship law. A complaint has been filed against him in Telangana. This complaint has been given by the founder of the Hindu organization, in which Farhan is accused of giving false facts on Twitter about the Citizenship Amendment Act, which has caused fear among the people.

In his complaint, Saidabad lawyer and founder of the organization, Karuna Sagar, alleged that Farhan Akhtar was creating fear among Dalits, Muslims, and atheists through his comments. Case against Farhan under 121 (waging war against the Indian government or inciting it), 121A (plotting war against the country), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 505 (inciting hatred between two communities in the name of religion). It is recorded that Inspector Srinivas, in charge of Saidabad police station, said that he has received a complaint and the facts are being investigated. Legal advice is also being taken as to whether a report can be lodged on this complaint.

Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "Here’s what you need to know about why these protests are important. See you on the 19th at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai. The time to protest on social media alone is over." Along with this, he has also shared a photo explaining the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Civil Registration (NRC), after which he tweeted another and wrote, 'I have a message to hold a Protest meeting on December 19." Along with this, a graphic was also shared. The map of India on this graphic is incorrect. He apologized and said, "Every inch and part of Kashmir is part of India and I reject the wrong map. I am sorry that I have not seen it before, so I apologize for it."
