His Holiness Dalai Lama has written to President Joe Biden to express his worry at the loss of life and property that has occurred in various states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee, as a result of recent storms.

"I appreciate that the US government, as well as state governments in the impacted areas, are doing all possible to provide immediate help and comfort to the victims," Dalai Lama wrote. "I've had the pleasure of visiting some of these states in the past, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you, the families who have lost loved ones, and everyone else who has been impacted by these catastrophic storms." Dalai Lama said.

After a series of tornadoes ripped through the region, killing at least dozens of people, search and rescue teams in western Kentucky and neighbouring states were scouring the ruins for survivors. According to the report, the number of deaths in Kentucky alone could exceed 100.

Last week, more than 30 tornadoes ripped through six US states, from Mississippi in the south to Illinois in the north, with devastating force and speed.
