Top Maoist leader Akkiraju Hargopal alias Ramakrishna (RK) has been declared dead by the police. Rama Krishna, a well-known figure as the top Maoist party leader in Telugu states, is feared to have died in the Bijapur forest area under Dandakaranya two days ago. Though police sources have confirmed this, the Maoist party has not yet giaven any official statement.

Against this background, RK's wife Sirisha alias Ramadevi remarked that the matter of RK's death would be believed only when the party officially announces it. She said that she was seeing media articles that he was dead. Sirisha remarked that the Chhattisgarh DGP had declared RK dead, but he was not told.

RK's wife Sirisha appealed to the government and the people of the village to help bring back his dead body if RK's death is true. She currently lives in Alakurpada, Tanguturu mandal, and accused the police of poisoning the Maoists. The news of her death was strongly condemned by the communities. He alleged that it was a conspiracy hatched by the police to trace the whereabouts of RK. Maoist party leaders said health problems including knee pain could not lead to death.
