New Delhi: Lok Sabha members of parliaments of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) are meeting in Parliament House on Friday, JUly 29.

This comes after a day after the controversy over Congress Lok Sabha MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's statement about "Rashtrapatni."

Meanwhile, K Suresh, a party MP, moved an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha, citing the "shocking attempt by BJP MPs, including Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, to threaten and intimidate senior MP and Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi Ji, which is an assault on all constitutional values and a blatant violation of parliamentary courtesies and dignity."

Chowdhury's "rashtrapatni" remarks regarding President Droupadi Murmu sparked a political tempest, causing interruptions in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Union Minister Smriti Irani demanded an apology from Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the Lok Sabha for referring to President Murmu as "rashtrapatni."  She also targeted Sonia Gandhi for Chowdhury's statements, claiming that the Congress leader "sanctioned President Murmu's humiliation."
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi in Rajya Sabha. On Thursday, three more opposition lawmakers were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for "unruly behaviour."

Congress workers and leaders, according to Smriti Irani, "continue to denigrate the Office of the President of India."
