Amritsar: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, there was a fierce clash between Congress workers and Lok Insaaf Party workers in Ludhiana. According to the information received, one faction was in favour of Congress leader Kamaljit Singh Karwal and the other was with Lok Insaaf Party MLA Simarjit Bains. Both these leaders are candidates from their respective parties in the Atmanagar assembly constituency. Karwal alleged that MLA Bains and his son Ajaypreet and his 25-30 supporters attacked him when he was on his way to a pole meeting on Daba Road.

Karwal said Bains and his associates opened fire on them and ransacked the vehicles. Congress leader Karwal has claimed that the MLA and all those accompanying him at the time of the incident had weapons like swords, iron rods in their possession. At least three people were injured in the entire incident. Ludhiana Joint Commissioner of Police has informed that Congress leader Karwal has alleged that there was an attack and firing from Simarjeet Bains. Further action will now be taken in the matter. According to the report, a heavy police force has been deployed in view of the tension in the area. Karwal has said that they had come to hold a meeting with their associates on Daba Road when Bains supporters attacked them with weapons and vandalised their vehicles. Karwal says there was also open firing from Bains.

Karwal said that, in the video of the incident, MLA Bains and his son Ajaypreet are seen. Bains has gone completely crazy because he knows he is going to lose the election this time. In a fit of rage, he attacked the Congress workers. How can people who are openly involved in hooliganism and violence be allowed to roam freely? On the incident, Bains says that neither he nor his supporters have attacked Congress. Congress candidates are only making up their own fabricated stories.
