In Madhya Pradesh, out of power for the last fifteen years, the Congress has sharpened the electoral power in the state. Congress has decided to combine with the BSP in the elections. Congress has agreed to give 26 seats to the BSP in the state, whereas in 204 seats the Congress itself will be given to its candidates. 

Following the alliance with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, Kamal Nath has discussed with BSP leader Mayawati regarding the sharing of seats. It is being told that the BSP will bring candidates in their impact constituencies in Vindhya, Bundelkhand, Chambal. In Madhya Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party has influence in Vindhya, Bundelkhand and Gwalior-Chambal divisions. In the 2013 election, the BSP had four seats in the account. It has 62 assembly seats, where the BSP got 30 thousand votes for ten thousand and 17 seats.

Earlier, many statements about Congress and BSP alliance were being heard in Madhya Pradesh. Narmada Prasad Ahirwar, who was the then BSP president, a few days ago, had said that there is no issue with the Congress about the coalition. However, after the meeting of Mayawati and Rahul Gandhi, the situation of the alliance in the state has become almost clear now. 

In the last elections, MSP got 6.29 per cent votes in the last assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and the party won a total of four seats. At the same time, BJP got 44.88 per cent votes, Congress got 36.38 per cent of the votes. In the 230 assembly seats of the state, the BJP won 165 seats, Congress lost by gaining 58 seats.
