New Delhi: Information about how much donation Congress got during 2019-20 has been revealed. The Congress received donations in excess of Rs 139 crore in 2019-20. When talking about the members of the party, veteran leader Kapil Sibal has given the highest donation of three crores to the party fund. The Election Commission has made public a report related to the donations received by the Congress in 2019-20.

According to this Election Commission report, 'ITC and its related companies contributed more than Rs 19 crore in donations, while Prudent Electoral Trust contributed Rs 31 crore. Under the provisions of the relevant laws, political parties are required to give information of more than Rs 20,000 given by people, companies, electoral trusts and organizations. According to the report, between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2020, former PM Manmohan Singh gave a donation of Rs 1,08,000, while former Congress president Rahul Gandhi gave a donation of 54,000 and party executive president Sonia Gandhi Rs 50,000.

Sibal was one of the 23 party members who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi in August 2020 demanding major organizational changes. Among other members of this 'G23 group', Anand Sharma, Shashi Tharoor and Ghulam Nabi Azad have given 54-54 thousand rupees, Milind Deora 1 lakh rupees and Raj Babbar 1 lakh eight thousand rupees in the party fund.
