New Delhi: Ahead of the presidential election, senior Congress leader Ajay Kumar has made a statement about NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu, which could create a big uproar. The Congress leader said we should not make Murmu a "symbol of tribal." At the same time, he has also raised questions about the ideology of Draupadi Murmu. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also hit back at the statement, calling it an insult to Murmu.

According to the schedule released by the Election Commission of India, the presidential elections are scheduled to be held on July 18. Talking to the media, Congress leader Ajay Kumar said, "This is not about Draupadi Murmu. Yashwant Sinha is a good candidate and Murmu Ji is also decent. But, she shows the very wicked ideology of India. We should not make them a symbol of tribals. We have President Ram Nath Kovind and the Hathras incident happened. Did he (Kovind) say a single word? The situation of the Scheduled Castes has worsened.''

Kumar further said that all like-minded parties should vote for opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. Kumar said, "It is the job of the Modi government to make symbols and fool the people of the country. It is a battle for the soul of the country and all the political parties with the same ideology should vote for Yashwant Sinha.''
