New Delhi: The opposition is now praising the functioning of the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. A parliamentary committee headed by BJP's arch-rival Congress MP Anand Sharma has lauded the efforts being made by the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh to curb violence against women. Anand Sharma has been the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha and was also made union minister during the UPA period.
Recently, a Parliamentary Committee headed by him has joined several departments to praise other steps taken since the establishment of a 'single window system' to prevent violence against women in the state. The Parliamentary Committee has also advised other States to learn from the UP government and coordinate all the departments involved in preventing crimes against women and children so that they can work in coordination.
A UP government leader said it has made it clear that Uttar Pradesh is now setting an example for other states. The state has set up one-stop centers in each district to provide justice to women victims of violence at the earliest. This has benefited 1,04,859 women so far. These centers also provide temporary shelters and mental counseling to legal aid and medical treatment.
