New Delhi: Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad has said on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir that what is happening in Kashmir is very worrying for all of us. At present, deploying additional security forces in the Valley is a matter of concern. The people of Kashmir and Ladakh are extremely frightened after the Home Ministry's advisory, Azad told the press on Saturday. It didn't happen at a time when terror in the Valley was at its peak,"

In Jammu and Kashmir, political turmoil has intensified in the state with the sudden halt of Amarnath Yatra and increased deployment of security forces. Apart from the Congress on the action of the central government, the PDP and the National Conference are also on the hook. When former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Governor Satyapal Malik on Friday, Omar Abdullah met Satyapal Malik on Saturday and tried to allay fears.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said in a press conference that "under the rule of the prime ministers of the past, even during the tenure of Manmohan Singh, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narsimha Rao, the devotees were asked to return home. Never before has such a situation come. This is unprecedented," Azad said, adding that the government wants to capitalise on what it is doing in Kashmir in the elections in other states.
