New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former MP Karthikeshwar Patra has passed away. He was ill for the last few days. It has been informed from his family sources that he died on Monday night. It is being told that 79-year-old Karthikeshwar Patra is survived by his wife Umarani, three daughters and a son. His wife has also been an MLA.

On the death of Karthikeshwar Patra, his wife Umarani said that he was very ill for the past few days and died on his way late on Monday while being taken to Bhubaneswar for treatment. In relation to Karthikeswar Patra, it is said that he was rich in multidimensional personality. Patra is said to have become an MLA from Bhogarai assembly constituency in Balasore district in 1971, 1974 and 1980 and also won elections from the Balasore Lok Sabha seat in 1991.

At the same time, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and other dignitaries have mourned the death of Patra. Patra was also always associated with many social and cultural activities. He has also written several books. Patra also did research work on culture and literature for a long time.
