New Delhi: Manish Tewari, a Congress leader and former Union Minister, has taken a dig at his party's former national president Rahul Gandhi, stating the party should avoid Hindutva and Hindu debates. He stated that bending his head at temples, churches, gurudwaras, or mosques is OK, but it should not be the focus of anyone's politics. Tiwari stated he had never witnessed such "weird behaviour" in his political experience as a response to Punjab Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu's statement that Imran is his older brother.

Manish Tewari, a Congress leader and former Union Minister, has taken a dig at his party's former national president Rahul Gandhi, stating the party should avoid Hindutva and Hindu arguments. He said Congress should stay away from the Hindu or Hindutva debate. Referring to the Supreme Court verdict, Tiwari said the court has also said that Hindutva is a way of life.

Tiwari said such organisations support toxic ideology, citing Hindutva in Salman Khurshid's book, ISIS Islamic terror group, and Boko Haram. They are one of the several political Islam doctrines. He stated that the Supreme Court's verdict on Hindutva should be respected by everybody. In 1995, a Supreme Court panel led by Chief Justice (CJI) Jagdish Saran Verma declared Hindutva to be a way of life. A seven-judge panel of the Supreme Court, led by then-CJI Tirath Singh Thakur, refused to revive the case in October 2016.
