New Delhi: The election for the post of Congress president is scheduled to be held on October 17. In such a situation, leaders of the rebel congress faction G-23 Manish Tewari, Shashi Tharoor and Karti Chidambaram have demanded that the party's voter list be made public to maintain transparency in the electoral process. On this, Veteran Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa has said, "This is an internal election of the party, the voter list is not public property. Do you think a chaiwala or a person selling golgappa will give this voter list?" That is, simply put, Congress has categorically refused to release the list of voters who cast their votes in the election of the President.

Bajwa further said that if they (leaders seeking the list) are in the election, then go to the party office and get the voter list from there. When asked about the statements of Manish Tewari, Shashi Tharoor and others, without naming anyone, he said, "This is 24, Akbar Road, Delhi." They also know its address. Bajwa said about the election for the post of president next month, let me also tell you, none of those people who are demanding the list will contest the elections. However, some media reports are saying that Shashi Tharoor may join the race for this president's post. Both Tharoor and Manish Tewari, who have been Union ministers, are among 23 leaders who wrote to interim chief Sonia Gandhi demanding a change in the "party leadership". Some leaders involved in the rebel faction of Congress, 'G-23' have now also resigned from the party.

At the same time, Congress National General Secretary KC Venugopal has also objected to the demand to make the voter list public. Venugopal said that any member of the party can see a copy of any voter list by visiting the party office. "This is an internal process and the voter list should not be published for all to see.'' He said there was no such practice in Congress. We will go by the old practice.
