Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran Congress leader and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, Shashi Tharoor, is considered an outspoken critic of the government led by PM Narendra Modi. He said during an event in Pune on Sunday that PM Modi should get full respect when he goes abroad as a representative of India, but when the PM is in the country, the public has every right to question him.
In the All India Professional Congress program, Tharoor, while reacting to the ongoing controversy over a common language of the country, said that he was in favor of the Tri language formula. Tharoor said that BJP's thinking is to promote Hindi, Hindutva and Hindustan, which is dangerous for the nation. We need to advance the three language formula. Significantly, many states have objected to the statement made by Home Minister Amit Shah on Hindi on the occasion of Hindi Day. After which he presented a clarification on this on Wednesday.
Amit Shah had said that he never talked of imposing Hindi everywhere in the country, instead he advocated using Hindi as a second language. Amit Shah said that he is constantly advocating for strengthening regional languages. Congress MP Tharoor criticized the BJP for the increasing mob lynching in the country, saying it was an insult to Hindutva and Lord Ram.
