New Delhi: India had distanced itself from the proposal of the United States and Ireland to provide humanitarian assistance to countries banned in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor has praised External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on this issue. In fact, India had distanced itself from the meeting citing Pakistan, and said that the proposal could help terrorist organizations in its neighboring country raise funds and build their new army.

Now senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has praised External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for India's stand on the humanitarian aid resolution passed in the UNSC. India has disagreed with a proposal put forward by the US and Ireland to make sanctions concessions to humanitarian efforts, saying that it could greatly help blacklisted terrorist groups around the world, including in its neighborhood (Pakistan). They can collect money. With which they can prepare weapons, ammunition, and their new army. Let us tell you that India was currently presiding over the UNSC, but still, except India, all the other 14 members attended the meeting and voted in favor of the resolution. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that our concerns are about terrorist groups taking full advantage of such humanitarian efforts.

Responding to India's stand, Shashi Tharoor said that he fully agreed with the country's objections, which led to India's abstention. In a tweet, Tharoor said, 'Understanding the humanitarian concerns behind the resolution, I fully agree with India's objections that prompted its boycott. Well done, S Jaishankar. Let us inform you that, indirectly referring to terrorist organizations present in Pakistan and its soil, Kamboj said that, 'There have also been many cases of terrorist groups in our neighborhood, including those listed by this Council, who have tried to avoid these sanctions. For this, many humanitarian organizations and civil society have taken a new incarnation.

The Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) calls itself a humanitarian organization, but largely acts as a front organization for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), is a charitable organization run by terrorist organizations JuD and LeT. Al Rehmat Trust, which is backed by another terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), is also flourishing in Pakistan.
