Chandigarh: In the Punjab Assembly Elections (Punjab Assembly Elections 2022), AAP has won a landslide victory, leaving behind the Bharatiya Janata Party, The Congress. Former PM HD Devegowda has made a big statement on why the Congress was defeated in Punjab after the AAP's victory. H D Deve Gowda said, "The reasons for the failure of the Congress in the state include the farmers' agitation and the internal problem of the Congress party."

He said it was because of the internal infighting of the Congress in Punjab that the AAP and other parties had got a good opportunity. Deve Gowda said that the congress place in Punjab gave an opportunity to the Aam Aadmi Party, which shows that the people there do not want the BJP. He said Congress's inability to resolve the internal dispute and its failure to take everyone together defeated it in Punjab and benefited the AAP.

Earlier, Deve Gowda had said that it would be good if Congress and all regional parties came together for the cause of the country. Deve Gowda highlighted Prime Minister Modi's visit to Gujarat where elections are due later this year. He had said that as soon as the assembly elections in five states are over, the BJP and Prime Minister Modi are focusing on the states where elections are going to be held at the end of the year. There is a need to bring in some similar quality Congress and party leaders.
