New Delhi: Congress is likely to convene a working committee meeting on the Jammu and Kashmir issue on Tuesday. Indeed, there are differences within Congress over Section 370 itself. Several Congressmen, including Milind Deora, Dipendra Hooda, Aditi Singh, have supported the amendment to Section 370. Leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal, Digvijay Singh, among the congress veterans, are opposing the move.
Now, at the Congress Working Committee meeting, the party will clear its stand on Section 370 and the division of Jammu and Kashmir. The Modi government has put the Congress in a state of worry over the sudden decision to remove Section 370 from Kashmir. Even though the Congress may have protested against the Modi government's move in Parliament, there is a confusion within the party. Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House Ghulam Nabi Azad strongly opposed the Centre on the issue.
Earlier on Monday, Congress and a number of opposition leaders met in the Parliament House complex in the presence of Sonia Gandhi and former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. It was decided that the party would oppose the government over the decision.
