New Delhi: Congress is in a mood to surround the Modi government at the Center in the upcoming budget session of Parliament. The interim president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, has asked the party leaders to 'aggressively' surround the government in the budget session starting from 31 January. He has told party leaders that we have to raise the issue of CAA, NPR and NRC loudly.

In a meeting with veteran Congress leaders at her residence, Sonia Gandhi discussed the party's upcoming strategy. Former PM Manmohan Singh, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel, Anand Sharma, Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary and K Suresh attended the meeting. After the meeting, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary told the press that the party would fight against the Citizenship Act (CAA) and raise other issues including the economic slowdown related to the general public.

He further said that we will fight to save the constitution and will also fight against CAA. The Congress is continuously attacking the government on the issue of CAA, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). The Congress and other opposition parties are also scheduled to meet soon to form a joint opposition strategy before the Parliament session.
