Thiruvananthapuram: It is a matter of disproportionate assets. In which the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau raided the residence of Congress leader VS Sivakumar on Thursday. The raid was conducted at the residence of former Health Minister Shivkumar at Thiruvananthapuram. The Congress Party has considered this investigation as a politically motivated move.

Earlier, on 18 February, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had filed a case against Congress leader VS Shivakumar and three others in this regard. Last week, the Kerala government gave the clearance to Vigilance to file a case against Shivkumar.

This action was taken by the Bureau on the basis of preliminary inquiry after seeking permission from the Kerala government to file a case against Shivkumar on the matter. In this regard, approval of the Governor was sought by the state government as per rules. After giving permission by the Governor, the Home Secretary had issued orders in this regard. Meanwhile, the Congress has claimed that the investigation being conducted against VS Shivakumar is politically motivated. Shivkumar, who was the health minister in the United Democratic Front government led by Oman Chandi, said that the matter was first investigated by the VACB and then given a clean chit.
