Coronavirus has been causing havoc in India for a long time. Every state is trying hard to stop it. On the other hand, political agitation has increased in the country regarding the Rajya Sabha elections. The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) and opposition parties Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and Congress on Tuesday filed nominations for the only Rajya Sabha seat in Mizoram. Elections will be held in this Rajya Sabha seat of Mizoram along with other states on June 19 and Tuesday was the last date for filing nominations.
MNF has fielded former chairman of its youth wing K Vanlalwena, while the main opposition party ZPM has nominated its general secretary B Lalchanjova. Congress has made its spokesperson and media department chairman Lallianchhunga its candidate.
Apart from this, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda is also in the fray this time. It is believed that the opposition parties may face a lot of challenges with their entry. On Tuesday, HD Deve Gowda and both BJP candidates Irna Kadadi and Ashok Gasti filed nominations for the elections to the four seats of Rajya Sabha in Karnataka on June 19. Deve Gowda was accompanied by his son and former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Katil were present during the nomination of BJP candidates. Congress candidate Mallikarjun Kharge has filed nomination only on Monday.
