Chandigarh: Congress MP Kumari Selja has firmly reiterated her dedication to the party, dismissing rumors of her potential shift to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In an interview, she stated, "Selja toh Congressi hai," emphasizing that she harbors no discontent with her party.

Responding to concerns regarding the neglect of Dalit leaders within Congress, Selja acknowledged that every community has its expectations and that these dynamics are part of the political landscape. She remarked, "Nobody can be the whole and sole leader of someone, but the community watches what happens with their leader."

Selja also addressed the recent speculation fueled by BJP leaders suggesting her dissatisfaction with Congress, reaffirming, "I am not upset with Congress... There is no doubt about it. There is position, there is respect." She noted that while political discussions and situations frequently arise, such instances are common in politics.

When questioned about Ashok Tanwar's recent rejoining of Congress, Selja confirmed she was informed about his decision. Tanwar, who previously served as the Congress MP from Sirsa, had shifted to the BJP before the 2024 general elections, only to lose to Selja in their electoral contest.

Expressing her confidence in Congress's performance ahead of the elections, Selja stated, "The situation of Congress is really good right now." She highlighted the party's efforts, including those by Rahul Gandhi, who has been active in Haryana, asserting that "Rahul's yatra really made a difference."

As Haryana prepares for its assembly elections on October 5, with results expected on October 8, the political landscape remains dynamic. In the previous elections, the BJP secured 40 seats while Congress won 30 seats.
