New Delhi: Ahead of the final phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Congress party has made a significant decision. According to party sources, Congress spokespersons will not participate in the exit poll discussions scheduled to take place after voting concludes on June 1. The party believes that such debates yield no meaningful results and prefers to await the mandate of the people, which will be revealed through the vote counting process on June 4.

The seventh and last phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for June 1, covering 57 seats across eight states and union territories. These include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Chandigarh, and Gujarat. With one BJP candidate elected unopposed in Gujarat, the voting will conclude, leading to the announcement of results for 542 Lok Sabha seats and some state assembly elections on June 4. Additionally, the counting of votes for assembly elections in two Northeastern states will occur on June 2.

The Lok Sabha elections 2024 have witnessed varying voter turnouts across different phases. In the first three phases, the voter turnout was slightly lower compared to the 2019 elections. However, the fourth phase saw a turnout of 69.16%, slightly higher than the previous election. In the fifth phase, 62.20% of eligible voters cast their votes across the eight states, followed by a turnout of 63.36% in the sixth phase.
