NEW DELHI: The Congress has staged a dharna in the Parliament complex on Thursday over the ongoing political scandal in Karnataka. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi along with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi were also present in the protest. Several senior party leaders have also joined the demonstration. In a protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament complex, the Congress alleged that the BJP wants to topple the Karnataka government by manipulating the MLAs.

The Congress says it will also take up the issue of Congress MLAs in Goa. The Congress will also lodge its protest in both the Houses of Parliament on the issue of Karnataka and Goa. On the protests, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told the media that "we are protesting the government here on the Karnataka and Goa issue." And the leader of the opposition, Chandrakant Kavalekar, inducted ten Congress MLAs.

The Congress had 15 MLAs in the state. There are now five remaining. Kavalekar has blamed the differences between congress veterans in Goa for the breakdown in the party's state unit and the lack of development work in the constituencies of opposition MLAs. With this shocking development, the number of BJP MLAs in the state assembly has now increased from 17 to 27.
