Bengaluru: Congress-JDS government has been under threat for several days in Karnataka. So far, about 16 MLAs from Congress and JDS have resigned. The apex court will also hear the petition filed by 10 rebel MLAs today. Sources said, CM HD Kumaraswamy is expected to resign from the post today. A rebel MLA from Mumbai, ST Som Shekhar has returned to Bengaluru.

The petitioners argued that CM Kumaraswamy was in a minority and refused to win a confidence vote. The petitioners have sought to implement their extraordinary right to defend the democratic principles enpassed in the Constitution. The petitioners said, "Any elected member of the legislature is entitled to resign from his membership based on his conscience or other necessary circumstances."

The apex court is scheduled to hear a petition filed by 10 rebel MLAs from Karnataka today. In a petition filed through advocate Mukul Rohatgi, the legislator alleged that the Speaker is not performing his constitutional duty and is deliberately delaying his resignation from the Assembly.
