Jaipur: To protect against cross-voting, 37 MLAs of Gujarat Congress have been brought to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. 37 MLAs of Gujarat Congress have been accommodated in a hotel in Jaipur. They all stayed at the Shiv Vilas Hotel in Jaipur. These MLAs have been sent to Rajasthan due to fear of cross-voting in Rajya Sabha elections.

Earlier, four MLAs of Gujarat Congress had resigned, due to which the party had to take this step. The party has received a major setback with this resignation. It is noteworthy that Rajya Sabha elections are to be held in Gujarat on 26 March and the Congress has only 69 MLAs. In the elections for 4 seats, Congress has fielded two and BJP three. There are currently 180 cases in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly with 182 MLAs, while a candidate needs the votes of 37 MLAs to win the election. It has become difficult for the Congress to win both the candidates.

In an attempt to stop the scatter in the Rajya Sabha elections, a plan has been made to bring these MLAs to Jaipur and Udaipur. Congress is afraid of cross-voting in Gujarat. Therefore, Gujarat Congress MLAs are under siege. Earlier, Chief Whip Mahesh Joshi arrived at the airport to pick up 14 MLAs. When the reporter asked Gujarat Congress MLA Himmat Singh Patel the reason for coming to Jaipur, he said, "Everything is fine. Every party has its own strategy. Coming here is also part of the strategy."
